2019 PANEL SESSIONS

The 2019 Noosa Program for the first time, included a number of panel sessions where representatives from key resource focussed institutional investors discussed the prospects and issues currently facing Australia's energy, mining and exploration sector. Representatives from the following funds participated.

Matt joined AMP Capital in March 2018 as Co-Portfolio Manager for the Australian Emerging Companies strategy. He has 11 years of dedicated small and micro cap investment experience, specialising in resources and industrial stocks. Previously at IFM Investors. Matt was integral to the launch of the IFM Australian small caps strategy, and later became Co-Portfolio Manager of a successful microcap fund. Prior to this, Matt spent four years at Macquarie Funds Group.

MATT GRIFFIN

Sam is a Portfolio Manager for the Perennial Microcaps Fund and covers the mid and small cap resources and energy space. Before joining Perennial in 2012, Sam was a Metals and Mining Analyst with Royal Bank of Scotland where he won Starmine’s 2011 top Australian Metals and Mining Analyst Award. He commenced his career as a geologist, gaining open pit mining and exploration experience across gold, nickel, iron ore and uranium. Most recently Sam was part of the team which was awarded the 2018 Australian Small Cap manager of the year.

Karina is the Analyst conducting the fundamental investment research on companies & selecting investments for client portfolios in the Resources and Energy sectors. Karina joined Acorn Capital in 2009. A geologist by training, Karina’s career began over 20 years ago as a project geologist with resources companies and consultants primarily in gold exploration. Karina holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Monash University and a Master of Business Administration (Tech Mgt) from Deakin University.

Jim is part of IFM Investors’ Small Caps team, which manages just under $1b with the Small Ordinaries Index as its benchmark. Jim joined IFM in 2012 and has joint responsibility for portfolio management with a focus on, and background in, the ASX-listed resource sector. Before joining IFM, Jim held similar roles with Macquarie Funds Group (Sydney and Perth) and Goldman Sachs in New York. Prior to this, Jim was a Commercial Litigation solicitor at Clayton Utz in Perth and an underground mine geologist in Kambalda at WMC’s Revenge Gold Mine.

John, a qualified lawyer and geologist, has been the Chief Investment Office of the Lowell Resources Fund (LRF.ASX) since 2017. He has 17 years of resources financing experience with RMB Resources, including 13 years as a manager of the Telluride Fund. John also has five years' experience in exploration and development geology in Australia, Tanzania and Indonesia. Previously, he qualified with a major Australian law firm to practice as a barrister and solicitor.

Geoff has over 38 years’ direct experience in investment markets having held a variety of senior investment roles in Australia, the UK and the US. Geoff founded Wilson Asset Management in 1997 and created Australia’s first listed philanthropic wealth creation vehicles, Future Generation Investment Company and Future Generation Global Investment Company. Geoff holds a number of additional directorships with investment companies and non-profit organisations.

Haydn joined Tribeca in 2018 following a 20-year career at Macquarie Bank where he was the Executive Director and Global Head, Mining Finance Group and Executive Committee Member, Commodities and Financial Markets Group. In this role, Haydn led a team of 40 people across Macquarie’s Australian, Canadian and United Kingdom offices overseeing the bank’s investments in mining and debt equity. Haydn holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.
